Make It Tonight: Quick, Simple and Healthy Family MealsNeed a solution to the proverbial question “what’s for dinner”? Elizabeth Baird has the answer with the new Canadian Living cookbook. As chief food editor for Canadian Living magazine, Baird has authored over 25 cookbooks, including the best-selling “Best Of” series. She has a reputation for highlighting Canadian foods and keeps Canada’s multicultural heritage in mind when preparing new recipes for every day and special occasions.

In Canadian Living Make It Tonight, Baird and the team at Canadian Living deliver “home-cooked fast food” to today’s modern families. The book has over 150 recipes organized into 13 sections that are specific to preparation time or cooking method. For instance, there are chapters dedicated to meals made it the toaster oven or the slow cooker.  If it’s the end of the week and you’re running low on groceries, this book has plenty of meal ideas with only five or so ingredients. There’s even a section called “Make it Tonight…Breakfast for Dinner” if you need to be very creative.

As with all Canadian Living recipes, each dish is “tested ‘til perfect” and designed to be “no-fuss”. Nutrition analysis per serving is provided for every recipe, as well as practical tips for shopping, ingredient substitutions and rules for safe food handling.

The recipes focus on vegetables, fruits and whole grains with sparing use of fats and sweeteners so you can be sure you’re getting a meal that is healthy in little time.
