Mrs. Fields Chocolate Chip Cookies Clone

Todd Wilbur is a smart man. It occurred to him one day that, instead of writing a cook book about random recipes, he should figure out how people can make their favourite brand name food products at home. The results are his series of books entitled “Top Secret Recipes.” This cookie recipe is one of my favourites to make and is quite popular with everyone who tries it. I’ve altered it slightly from the original to show you how I do it.


2 sticks of warmed butter (1 cup)
1/2 cup sugar (granulated)
1 and a half cups of brown sugar (tightly packed)
2 eggs
2 and a half teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
2 and a half cups of flour
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 teaspoon of baking soda
As many semisweet or milk chocolate chips as you can pack


  1. Set the oven to 350 degress F.
  2. In a mixer, combine butter, sugars, eggs, vanilla, flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
  3. Mix well.
  4. Add chocolate chips.
  5. Make spoon sized balls of the dough and place about 2 inches or so apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake for 9 minutes or until outside area of cookie turns a light brown.
